Ice packs will help with the pain, and reduce swelling.
You just had a surgical procedure: there's going to be some pain. That's normal.
Most of the time, removing the infected tooth will let your body clear up the remaining infection by itself, in a couple of days.
24 hours isn't very long. Hang on, and use ice packs. You'll get through this.
