Good faith question to Trump supporters: How can it not bother you that Trump exploited trusting people with his Trump University?

Good faith answers only, please. I respect people who support Trump--my brother is one of them--but how can you place trust in President Trump knowing that he was found guilty of exploiting innocent, trusting people with his fraudulent Trump University scheme? I've asked my brother but he always dodges the question.

    False premise.

Trump University, which was changed to Trump Entrepreneurial Initiative, was not a university. It was mainly a real estate investing school that offered 3 to 5 day seminars on how to do things like portrayed in the TV show "Flip This House". Nearly all of the attendees said they were satisfied with the seminars. A few students sued because they didn't get rich after taking the seminars, which was ridiculous. Trump settled with them to eliminate the distraction once he won the 2016 election. Had he not settled it is extremely unlikely the suits would have succeeded since no one can expect to "get rich" by taking a 3 to 5 day seminar.

My understanding is that it was a good program. That some people taking the course were not suited for it is a separate matter of admission standards which were probably low because Trump wanted people from all walks of life to participate not just rich people.

Yup.  That was bad.  He shouldn't have done it.  But when you ask me whether the country would have been better off with Hillary in charge?  I say we got the lesser evil.  Trump is a mixed bag.  I'm opposed to many things he's done.  But he's also done some good.  He's the best deregulatory president we've had in my lifetime...probably longer.  He freed businesses and the economy is growing nicely as a result, even against the headwinds of his stupid trade wars.

We can't know exactly what Hillary would have been like, but I suspect much worse.  And whereas the media are relentlessly investigating Trump, they would have let Hillary get away with anything, just like they refused to criticize Obama in any of his scandals.  So at least this way we have some accountability.

I'm not a Trump lover or supporter, but he's been the lesser evil.  I'd love to vote for an even lesser evil if the Democrats nominate one.  Unfortunately, they seem more likely than not to nominate an extremist.  Right now Biden's leading mainly because the extremist vote is divided between three or four extremists.  Once they consolidate I suspect we'll be left with Elizabeth Warren who I will absolutely vote against...even if it means voting for Trump.

A friend and I went to an introductory session. It was run by a pimply-faced kid. There was a cardboard cut-out of Donald Trump. It was high pressure and he wanted people to blindly hand over their credit cards to sign up. We got up and left, laughing. Many people followed us out the door. It was an obvious scam.

That's a mystery to me as well. They'll probably say it's fake news.

10 minutes later: The silence is deafening.
