You should learn some basic rules about normal distributions. Namely, the 68-95-99 rule
68% of a data set with a normal distribution is located within 1 standard deviation of the mean
95% of a data set with a normal distribution is located within 2 standard deviations of the mean
99% of a data set with a normal distribution is located within 3 standard deviations of the mean
50% of a data set with a normal distribution is less than the mean and 50% is greater than the mean
Our shaded area encompasses 2 standard deviations below the mean and 1 standard deviation above the mean.
95% is located within 2 sd of the mean, so 47.5% is located between -2sd and the mean.
68% is located within 1 sd of the mean, so 34% is located beween the mean and +1sd
47.5 + 34 = 81.5
81.5%
