If we want to support renewable power, why not promote solar, wind and hydro power rather than oppose pipelines?

We have two types of people in the world, happy people and angry people. Happy people look to do things to make a difference due to their optimism. Those kinds of people would spend their time supporting and investing in renewable energy. I mean they are happy and probably work for a living and are doing fairly well. Angry people on the other hand want to tear down what other people have due to their own, unending pessimism. They are so unhappy with their lives that they do not have jobs, which allows them to channel their anger into occupying cities and protesting just about anything.

Because pipelines are the biggest piece in the fossil fuel market chain. and stopping them will do the most to stop the mindless expansion of the oilsands, which has more stored carbon and greenhouse gasses trapped in them, than ALL the oil we have EVER burned in history. To unlock all that is to negate all we have done, and all that could be done, to save the very planet YOU live on, and set the world's recovery back a thousand years So grab a picket sign and join the rest of us who choose science over corporate propaganda. Your kids will thank you. That is unless your from Alberta. as theres no talking to them guys. They only care about themselves and have no concerns past their own needs.( like more shiny stuff to put on their gas guzzling SUV's,or to buy what corporate think tanks and focus groups tell them they need..

You do know that we have tried all of those, don't you?
Solar is not feasible because the demands are 24 hours and the sun doesn't shine on parts of the earth all the time. Civilized nations require constant and reliable power. By this, you can readily see that the environmentalists want us to go back into the stone age.
Same for wind. It has been tried out in Iowa, to my personal knowledge, and it raised the cost of electricity and cost the lives of the maintenance men. It was once considered the most dangerous job in the world. Plus, they had to be backed up by traditional power plants, idling at 60%. That is a waste of 60%.
As for hydroelectric dams, they are the most efficient method of producing electricity. But why is it that the environmentalists are trying to do away with them? Again, it just shows us that they are trying to have us go back to the stone age. And they are not out to save the world as they claim.
Pipelines are the best way of transporting petroleum. They are the most efficient. They are the safest. Not only that, it gets the power to the proper location and without loss of power. With hydroelectric dams, they produce power very efficiently. However, they are usually in remote areas. With coaxial wires, they have reduced line loss but it is still there. When you weigh the power it takes to transport the dormant petroleum from North Dakota to, let's say, New Orleans via pipeline the energy consumption is minimal compared to power line loss for the same distance.
And, who says that Petroleum is not renewable? We don't know that. The fact that at one-time oil was seeping out on the surface the earth in many places, that was the way it was discovered, means that it was being produced by the earth itself.

Deniers certainly have a line on this, they tend to make empty statements like the sun doesn’t shine at night or it doesn’t work etc etc or absurdities like wind power is ugly, can’t say I’ve ever seen a pretty coal fired power station, this is the level deniers operate at.
Personally I installed solar years ago and added a battery a couple of years ago. Unlike like the fibs of deniers that they don’t save money, my system (just the cells) paid for itself in just 5 years reducing my power bill by ~70%. With the battery I’m now effectively free of the grid In Australia ~2 million homes (or 25% of homes) now have solar on their roofs. So deniers lies on this gets little traction here.

Solar only works when the Sun shines. Wind only works when it is blowing hard enough but not too hard. I doubt that there is any place to build another dam to harness water power.

So many renewable power sources such as bio fuels, have a very hideous environmental consequence. Pristine forests in Brazil and Indonesia have been lost forever to produce "renewable" power. Pipelines are a more efficient way to move oil and gas. By using pipelines, you reduce CO2 but that isn't enough for most alarmists. They aren't going to be happy unless they totally destroy the fossil fuel industry. The left has created these monsters and now they endanger us all.

I live in a very, very blue town in the very blue state of Ma. Most of the folks around here are true supporters of climate change, pushing renewable's, and somehow penalizing those who waste. We have things like the plastic bag ban and such. Yet when these parents are picking up their kids, whether it is from school or an activity. All of those gas guzzling SUV's and minivan engines are running. Just sitting there wasting energy. Winter or summer mind you, wouldn't want to get to hot or too cold.

I can support renewable and oppose pipelines like the one that just spilled millions of gallons of crude. again.

Most sane people do promote it.

Those that have tried just renewable power, like the Germans, have come to the realization that it is not a reliable source. They are contracting the U.S. and Russia for LNG which is both dependable and less polluting. LOL Liberals infuriated by facts. LOL
