Trump and the impeachment thing...?

I have heard all sorts of defenses on the news, and on social media. But the one defense, the one that would be an absolute defense, would be "Trump didn't do it. He didn't do what you said". Why is that not his defense?

He sort of does try that defense when he claims that the "perfect" phone call was not about quid pro quo.  However, the facts are overwhelming and include an official abbreviated transcript of that "perfect" call wherein he clearly conditions aid to Ukraine on pursuit of investigation into Biden.

So, no one that has any real knowledge of the situation sees that denial of the facts serves a purpose and realizes that denial cannot be a valid defense.  This means that the only defense that can possibly work is to simply say "yah, so what, it isn't all that bad".  The fact that they "do it all the time" is a problem for me, and loads of people like me, but there are loads of people who don't care that the president is a criminal.  And that is the defense: it does not matter if he is a criminal, he isn't criminal enough to be fired from office.  It is a pretty weak defense but it is all they have.

Because he published the phone call summary and we can all read it.

    Didn't do what?

Didn't pressure Ukraine into investigating impeachment?  SURE!!  He did that.  He admitted that from the start.  The problem Dems have is that this, in and of itself, is NOT illegal nor an impeachable offense.

It can ONLY be a crime or an impeachable offense if the Democrats can PROVE … not just assume or claim it's "obvious" but PROVE … that the ONLY reason he did so was to gain an advantage in the election.  That's what has to be proven.  And that is precisely what Trump is saying he did not do.

Because of the multiple witnesses heard from and multiple witnesses yet to be heard from.

The facts of the case are not in dispute, except among the most fantastic conspiracy theorists.
