What's an anime that came out on HBO around Christmas 2005?

It has aired around Christmas for a couple of years; and all I can remember is that it involved a clumsy boxer who slipped on his own blood, but comedically if I'm not mistaken.

I'd like to say they gave him the nosebleed on the first round, and he tripped over it on the second.I also believe it was a movie and not a series.Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, as it has been gnawing at me for several years.
