How do I prevent Microsoft Edge from ever opening?

I set up Chrome as my default browser. But whenever I search from the task bar, or from Cortana, edge opens. It also opens when search from within any Microsoft application (like Word or Excel). Is there a way to stop that? Can I delete Edge? Is there a way to make your "default" browser your "only" browser?

Type Settings into the Cortana search bar and hit Enter.

    Select System.

    Choose Default apps.

Navigate to Web browser, click Microsoft Edge and change it to Firefox or Chrome.

Choose your preferred search engine from the list that pops up after the install.

Change your ways. Stop searching from the taskbar and disable Cortana.

I don't believe there's a way to do that. Microsoft really wants people to use Edge, so this specific functionality (searching through the start menu) is seemingly hardcoded to only open with MS Edge.

Delete all the edges in the universe, then you can delete Microsoft Edge.
