Did the adults and school-kids afflicted with minor skin irritation smell aviation fuel or money?

In 1994 the ford plant in liverpool released gas and a headmistress was organising a group claim for compo cos the kids had smelled gas.   It was nitrogen dioxide - none of them were dead or anything.  i never heard the outcome, probably paid them off
