Having trouble recording in audacity can some one help?

So, I am a song writer and have used audacity a lot in the past several years to edit and record my music. But now all the sudden I keep getting flat lines when I record either with microphone or though my macbook airs built un mic. what do I do? to fix this?

    I had the same problem but it was OK when I downloaded Audacity again. I should mention that I downloaded it on another computer.

    ask someone thats good at it to show you how to do it

    It's possible that a recent update, particularly of Audacity, has reset the mike volumes to default (ie low) so you need to check them first.
