Is the ametrine the same as an amethyst?

    they are both a form of quartz so yes in a broad chemical and mineralogical sense, but no in terms of coloration.

    Yes and no. An ametrine is a stone that is part amethyst, part citrine. Citrine and amethyst are both forms of quartz.
