My roommate and I have discovered glowing dots on our ceiling?

The dots appear to be yellow-green of circular shape, irregular sized, and no distinguishable pattern. We would to know what this could possibly be. We put it into google and it said either maybe mold, or tonic water that happened to get on the ceiling from a previous party. We would like your input. Please let us know what you think it is.

Simply old "glow in the dark" paint.

Shine a bright light on them, then turn out lights. If they show up then it's glow in the dark paint and nothing to be concerned about.

But if you are concerned, apply a coat of KILZ, then paint with a coat of good paint.

I agree that it's probably old glow-in-the-dark paint. It isn't tonic water because quinine fluoresces blue, and would only be visible when a UV light is shined on it.

At a guess, some previous occupant put "stars" on the ceiling with fluorescent ink or paint.
