and pubs (one called 'high spirits', night clubs (one called Babylon), restaurants, garages etc.
"You're going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food--catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They'll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages." (2 Timothy 4:3,4)

I've only seen two converted, one is a carpet warehouse in town and the other was as pub in Scotland.

Because Europe (like most developed places) is growing more secular. And bingo is real.

That's because bingo makes more sense and is more productive than religion.

They should be turned into something positive.
Replacing the negative of a church with the negative of bingo doesn't seem much of a gain.
How about using those fine buildings for something positive, like health care, education, or research facilities?
Negative to positive is better than just trading negatives.

If that's true, why are many bingo halls being closed?
All I see, are many places being replaced with accommodations, in the main, for greed.

Because nobody is religious anymore. Various surveys in the last couple of years show fewer than 38% of the British population said they were Christians (of any denomination), and a lot less than that admitted to regularly going to church.
Anyway, round my area the churches are being turned into Curry houses, community centres and carpet warehouses - all far more useful than their orignal purpose!
