how to begin my story?

"Once upon a spooky time it was raining, but then it stopped. The end".

That's all you need. Please.

The story is YOUR story.  Whatever you visualize and describe is fine with your readers. The person who had a scary time on the winter roads brought up an atmosphere I liked - slick ice and a curtain of snow.

The afternoon after my niece's wedding (August) suddenly turned from bright and warm to dark clouds and wind and a suddenly low temperature.  It felt spooky and scary.  We found out from the 6 pm news that a tornado had developed and touched down approximately 80 miles away. It made a terrible mess of that area, but all we got was the wind.  We never saw the tornado because it did not come our way.

It was Pitch-black.  The rain poured down.  The thunder rolled, and the lightning screeched across the sky.  The streets were rivers as

I-You, Miss Hunt-drove though them.  The rivers rising up on either side of the car, the windows getting splashed.  

"The state troopers are advising that traffic be restricted to necessary travel only." The guy on the radio said.

When I lived in central PA, I once experienced a scary flash freeze.  We had light rain. But then the sky turned darker, their was some thunder, and the temperature dropped suddenly like 20 degrees.   Suddenly the highway was covered in thick ice and cars started sliding backwards.
