    When they went to survey it originally they followed a river.  Then it peeved them off and they drew straight lines....

    Follows the Macintyre River.

    Geographic features are often used as borders.

    It all used to be the colony of New South Wales. The colony of Queensland was named after Queen Victoria. It was drawn on the map before federation and her death in 1901.

    because there in a mountain range that goes up the Eastern side of Australia
