    You need a USB 2.0 to Mini-B 8-pin adapter cable, my friend.

    Take a look at some of the offerings on the following Amazon.com webpage.  (Some of the adapter cables are much cheaper than others.)

    Get a cheap USB card reader then use that to connect the camera's memory card directly to the computer's USB slot. Use the computer's file manager (Windows Explorer, Mac Finder, Linux Konqueror, etc.) to do the actual copying manually. Never rely on an automated program to do it for you. This is the only method recommended by experts in photography and computers.
