UK gov urges employers to "move away" from "cheap labour" and invest in retaining staff & develop automation.Then replace retained staff?

    and HKSB cutting 40,000 jobs with reduced profits, because wimpy uk gov'ts never got tough with US financial sector who fine and force out 'foreigners' with impunity - ever since Midland bank tried and probably before.

    Poorly thought out......

    Social Care Providers are reliant on cheap labour; some will certainly close if they cannot keep costs down, and people are living longer, so more demand.

    There are other sectors that also share the same pay structure issues.

    Developing automation to do the low skilled jobs will cost businesses a lot of money. I think that the government in the UK should allow a certain amount of skilled and low skilled people into the country every year BUT they should only be allowed to work for up to 7yrs. There is just not enough people to fill all the vacancies we have for low skilled jobs in this country. Personally I think high skilled jobs should go to British people first. Why the hell are they bringing in immigrants to do those jobs when there is already a lot of competition in the Labour market for high skilled jobs. Priti Patel doesn't make any sense.
