I recommend Linux Mint.  I don't have to deal with Microsux anymore

You should NOT have to resort to this (by which I mean, Microsoft should not be able or allowed to force you to do this sort of thing), but it is an option that you might think about.  If you get a working WindowsⓇ 10 installation, and if for some reason you choose to use WindowsⓇ 10, you can use Macrium Reflect Free to make a duplicate image of your WindowsⓇ 10 drive on an external HDD or SSD (or even a large-capacity USB flash drive).  Then, if Microsoft does something to your computer that you don't like, you can restore that image fairly quickly to your computer's WindowsⓇ drive.

Although I use a GNU/Linux-based computing environment, I do keep an image of my laptop drive which had a valid, licensed WindowsⓇ 10 installation.  Every so often (after large updates) I restore the image to the laptop, capture and store a new image of the freshly updated WindowsⓇ 10 installation, and put my fave GNU/Linux distro back onto the laptop's SSD.

It's just a couple hours of entertaining activity for me, and I get a demented sense of being in control of WindowsⓇ 10, rather than WindowsⓇ 10 being in control of me.

First: subscribe to Windows Secrets and read it.

Second: delay the updates. Windows updates are full of bugs until they fix them which takes ~ two weeks. Win 10 is frustrating if it is full of bugs.

The people at WinSec are not MS, they are independent agents who keep an eye on all windows stuff and tell you when it is safe to install updates.

Now-a-days all computers are inter connected. So if you put windows-7, immediately a problem can arise. It is paid os. So you will get messages. There is no way that you can install windows 7. What you can do is to switch to linux based system like Ubuntu. They are as good as windows and all systems are free. You can also run windows programs in it. Change it fedora, or ubuntu.

I general the drivers are compatible from Vista up to win10.  So it is a matter of sacrificing anything that is on the computer, buying win7 and then installing it.  I help many people and have fought with win10 so I can understand your frustration.  It is the "corvair" of the computer industry.

Sounds like you need to just give the computer away and work on your anger management issues.

You are obviously a "Linux Fan Boi" who is still trying to sell Linux to people who don't want, or need it! It is quite apparent that you and people like you dislike Microsoft and Windows for whatever reasons. Use what you like.. But with that, do know that despite whatever you try and preach, regardless of the Windows and Microsoft badmouthing people are going to go on liking, and using it despite what people like you do or say! Your whining, and bellyaching show just how clueless you are!

well you might be able to get away with it for a few years but after that you will have to go to windows 10. Drivers for new hardware will not be built for windows 7 any more, which means compatibility will eventually drop.

Windows 10 is FAR easier to setup and maintain than windows 7 (less work getting drivers installed and less work with updates)

I setup and maintain thousands of different windows machines (mostly 10 but some windows 7)

if you got a new computer and windows 10 is not working on it then you must have installed it incorrectly.

No computer is "designed" to not allow any OS to be installed (you can install windows 95 on most modern hardware)

Compatibility and security will take a MASSIVE hit.

Windows 7 will display a "you need to upgrade" message on every reboot until you upgrade.

Just grow up and get used to windows 10 as eventually that is all there will be.

    EDIT

All programs that work in windows 7 work in windows 10.

VLC work perfect (have used it in windows 10 for years)

you can disable ads in the start menu (just right click on the box and select remove)

    you can disable cortana

just because it takes a few minutes longer to setup than 7 does not mean it is worse (granted it took years for it to get this good)

if you are having issues with software on windows 10 that is a different issue that needs to be fixed.

At this point I think you're just an inept troll. If you were as "computer savvy" as you claimed, you would already know how to do these things...

    Obtain a Windows 7 install disc/iso.

Disable Secure Boot from your PC's UEFI, boot off of the W7 install media, format your drive and install Windows 7. That simple.

However, you will most likely face a few challenges which may or may not be difficult to overcome if you know how and where to look. For one, you will need a valid product key to do this legally. Microsoft doesn't sell product keys for W7 anymore so you will need to obtain an unused one somehow. Next, you will need to find drivers for W7 for your hardware. The drivers themselves usually work on older versions of Windows, but the installers may not install on an older version of Windows. Again, if you know what you're doing and where to look, this won't be much of a problem to deal with.

I've been running Windows 10 since it was in beta in late 2014 and haven't had many problems with it, even on PCs that MS considers "unsupported".
