In the book Sex and the City, what does "bodice-heaving tryst" mean? (p.2)?

well, for me it means "disappointing dates, sexual but hollow at the end, that feeling of heavy chest but sexual satisfaction" it's hard to explain in a usual term because it englobes a lot of things and feelings

but I may have got it wrong so thats what i found: heave-rise and fall rhythmically: to rise and fall in a rhythmic or spasmodic way

tryst-a secret meeting, or place of meeting, especially between lovers

"Bodice heaving" is the physical heavy breathing associated with a woman being erotically stimulated.

A tryst is what you posted above so put the two together and you get a picture of a lusty meeting of two entangled bodies on a dark and stormy night.

I would think your phrase is used in those cheapo schlocky novels of lust and desire a la J. Susann.

Tryst is a meeting between two people done in quiet.

Google what 'bodice ripper' means, it's in line with the heaving.
