    This is for the United States:

    In most four-year colleges, if you are working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree, you need to take a foreign language, typically the foreign language you took in high school.

    If you are working toward a Bachelor of Science degree, you may not need to take a foreign language.

    Some people take Spanish in college.  Not everyone does.  Not everyone is required to take a foreign language at all; of those who are, there are usually (but not always) several options.

    No, my university was French Immersion because there was no waiting list for that one. And Spanish is not an option in the French University.
