JWs: Why is abortion wrong but you can let your child die by refusing a blood transfusion? ?

Simply put, Jehovah's Witnesses go through a "Bible Study" that gradually convinces them that certain beliefs are from God and only Jehovah's Witnesses as an organization has those beliefs. Then, without them knowing it they start  buying into the assumption that the Governing Body truly speaks for God, even though there is never any actual evidence for that that is given. The fact is, although Jehovah's Witnesses can point to certain scriptures that on the surface seem to prohibit blood transfusions, the fact is a careful reading of the Bible not only shows that blood transfusions are not prohibited, if a blood transfusion would save a life it should be readily accepted. Although the Jehovah's Witness leaders did not come out against blood transfusions until 1945, meaning that there was absolutely no prohibition against them before that, there are probably no committed Jehovah's Witnesses today that do not believe they have always believed blood transfusions were evil. If a Jehovah's Witness realizes the truth about blood transfusions, they most likely are starting a path that will eventually lead them to leave that group.

It's a confusing religion. Leave it at that and move on to something with an answer.

Not a JW, but both are wrong. I could never refuse medical treatment to one of my children.

Catholicism is the One True Faith and a person can know this with certainty by reciting the rosary every day with care and sincerity.

JW is so stupid and insane. And people wonder why Russia banned that idiotic "religion". Hm, gee, maybe because that level of insanity can get people killed?
