The Catholic Church does not teach any such thing. However, the Bible makes it clear that Jesus Christ founded just one Church, said it was to remain one, and promised that one Church the fullness of God's truth until the end of time. Therefore, no church with a history shorter than 2,000 years can be that one Church. Therefore, any teaching of another church that contradicts a teaching of that one Church is necessarily false. That one Church never identifies which individuals go to Hell, because God alone is the Judge.

Since Hell didn't exist until the 4th century and no one has ever proved that God exists I wouldn't sweat it.

Staying or leaving the Roman Catholic Church is not the criteria of going to heaven.....There will be Roman Catholics that will go to heaven and many more that will spend eternity in hell. Likewise with all the Protestant denominations too.

In order to obtain eternal life and to go to heaven one must repent of their sins, and ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior and try to live ones life in accordance with God's word the bible.

Humans are made from dust. (Genesis 2:7; 3:19) We are not spirits living in a body of flesh. We are physical creatures, so no part of us survives death. When we die, our brain dies too, and our thoughts perish. Thus, Lazarus said nothing about his experience of death because the dead are unconscious.—Read Psalm 146:4; Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10.

Does God torment people with fire after death? Since the Bible shows that the dead are unconscious, hellfire is clearly a false teaching that slanders God. The very idea of tormenting people with fire disgusts him.—Read Jeremiah 7:31.
