Why are religious services being cancelled?

If you believe your god is all-powerful, you should be confident that he/she/it will protect you against the virus. Or, is he not as powerful as you claim?

Because the Bible tells us to obey the law of the land.  It also says that the prudent see danger and take refuge.  Besides, many churches are having livestream services now so they can "assemble" that way.

Because it is the most logical approach and necessary precautions to be taken in order to protect the health of others and to help prevent from the spread of the virus.

That kind of thinking is very very wrong and forbidden. A believer is to take all the necessary precautions even as to protect others, to protect himself from harming humanity even quarantining oneself if part of his duty and to have trust in God. There is something God says about taking certain decisions and that is to take care of your business and then to trust in God.

Quarantining, health precautions and so forth is a must for the believer and to follow the guidelines of his or her country as well.

What you said is reckless, dangerous even and even though God protects whomever and can provide protection, what you said is very dangerous, impulsive and no true believer would risk others or risk the health of others to be in harms way or be exposed to a virus. No true believer in his right mind would do such impulsive, thoughtless, illogical thing because everyone has a responsibility to uphold and to be aware of others as well and one self and to be aware of God as well.

God doesn't approve of impulsiveness, and all panic-like actions these things are the actions of the devil. If people do impulsive things without using caution and without being careful of others, people will regret their actions and can harm others, and can lead to evil actions, evil deeds done because of it. And yes God is All-Powerful except He also teaches people to use caution, to be steady not impulsive and to have trust in Him.

We're already having a hard time getting many groups of religious people to exercise common sense transmission-mitigation strategies.

Let's not bait them into avoiding them out of spite, huh?

No religious person trusts their god thing.  They all say they do, but their actions belie their words.

When you have actions to judge by, words become meaningless.

Would you feel the same way about the congregation leaving the church if it was on fire? Why would one potentially lethal threat be worse than another?
