Substitute for aloe gel in DIY hand sanitizer?
I know you can make hand sanitizer with rubbing alcohol and aloe vera gel. I have some rubbing alcohol, but no aloe. And of course stores are sold out. Can I use anything else? Will regular hand lotion work?

For future folks searching - glycerine (called glycol in some places) will substitute for aloe.

Alcohol tends to dry out your skin, so they want to mix it with aloe vera gel to eliminate that bad effect. This is especially a problem if you use it a lot.
You might try it with hand lotion. I kind of doubt that would work, but it's worth a try I guess. It might be better to just wipe your hands with a paper towel moistened with alcohol, then use hand lotion separately, afterwards, if needed.
And remember, if you're near a restroom, soap and hot water is better! Hand sanitizer is for when you can't wash your hands.
