Mashed Potatoes with Butter or Garlic and black pepper?

    Why OR?  Why not both.  If you want the garlic more mild in flavor toss in the cloves of garlic with the potatoes when you cook them, it will flavor the potatoes and when you mash the soft garlic with the potatoes it will be a milder flavor.

    All of it, and some cream too to make the tatties really yummy. Put it all in a mixer and whiz until smooth and fluffy.

    Why not all three? After draining the taters I pour the cream in the bottom of the pot to warm with the butter to melt. Then sprinkle on dry garlic, salt, pepper, maybe parsley. etc.

    Also add chives, sour cream, and a bit of dry mustard powder...
