Is it okay to have 5 missing adult teeth?

I've read that most people have about 1- 2 missing adult teeth.

My orthodontist said it's very rare to have 5 missing adult teeth.

But my question is.

How is it possible to have 5 missing teeth?

Update:

I dont mean wisdom teeth . I mean like the teeth you see when smile or eat.

For me I have no 3 teeth at the bottom or two at the top

Yes, it's okay, and not unusual.  I had to have all four of my wisdom teeth removed - then to have one or two more removed during your lifetime, isn't that uncommon (especially if you don't have dental insurance).

Maybe worldwide most people have one or two missing teeth, but in the US and Canada, that's not true, unless you count wisdom teeth that were deliberately removed.

Whether it's okay for you to have five teeth missing depends on whether they show when you talk or laugh, whether you care if they do, and whether you're able to bite and chew food without problems.

If it were me, I'd get something done if the missing teeth show. But whatever decision the person makes for themselves is the right one.

Your 4 wisdom teeth might not have grown in so that’s 4 right there.
