Atheists: What are your thoughts on my COVID-19 prediction? ?
I have no doubt that once the virus is eradicated, theists all over the world will rejoice jubilantly and claim that their god of choice answered their prayers.
Meanwhile, so far no deities have bothered to stop the virus, despite the thousands who have died or are currently dying.

My favorite is when a theist says "thank God I am alive" after a horrible event instead of "why didn't God take me home". Apparently they are in no rush to meet God.

I am almost in agreement with you, with your prediction. "Almost" because I am not so sure it will actually be eradicated. Controlled maybe, but eradicated I think may be beyond our capabilities at present. I am curious about something though. While I am sure there are many theists who will at the drop of a hat give credit to their particular deity for just about anything from finding a parking spot to what ever, I am more inclined to say that God has made it possible for mankind to figure out our own answers to many problems. I find it fascinating that Jehovah's Witnesses are allowed to accept any and every blood component yet are not allowed to accept a blood transfusion. Yet there are indications that using plasma from a donor that has recovered from COVID-19 may be at least a partial cure for someone who has a severe infection. While the Jehovah's Witnesses today typically find the idea of getting a transfusion horrific, the fact is that it was not until 1945 that the Watchtower came out against blood transfusions. if a blood transfusion is so abhorrent to God, why did it take so long to come out against it?

You are correct. They will pretend their silly gawd thingies stopped the coronavirus, when in reality, it will be science.

As an atheist I think no one can do predictions, even scientists can't to do it... They only can compare this new virus to some others that already exist and are from the same type.

I would guess half a million people die in this world every year from the common flu/cold and just like this COVID-19 it affects mostly the elderly or people with serious health problems.
Most probably a similar death rate worldwide would apply to people with cancer, heart problems and other diseases.
Countless millions of people have died in this world from disease, natural disasters, and wars etc, throughout mankinds history.
God does not always prevent or heal people dying in this world from whatever cause it may be---if that was the case -- no one would ever die!
Why can't God be working through good medical and science people in this world to help as many affected by this virus as they can?
If you don't get infected by this virus once its over ---how could you say God wasn't involved in that?
Remember death awaits us all at any time, any age, and any situation that is a fact of life and God decides that not us.

I'm with you! They will praise their lord and donate more money to their wealthy churches for answering their prayers...
And yet, not one child has EVER been cured of DIPG - even when the daughter of a pastor of a mega church had millions praying around the world. Look up DIPG - average age is 6, survival averages 3-6 months. They die a horrible death where their brain is fully aware as they lose all of their bodily functions and eventually suffocate to death as their lungs won't work...
And yet, not a single human being has EVER been cured of NF, which causes horribly disfiguring tumors all over the body. The ones visible cause people to shun them; the ones inside, invisible cause horribly painful nerve cancer...

God is in control, always, whether or not He is the source of the pestilences. He is also the source of the knowledge on how to control or fight the pestilence. For that knowledge, He deserves praise and thanks. This present focus is on COVID-19 for which about 11K have died so far, but the CDC estimates that 24K to 63K deaths due the the flu over a six month period from 1 October 2019 to 28 March 2020.

Been that way since the dawn of time...my thoughts don't change a thing theists will always do that, that is part of their delusion.

What is there to discuss? It's just what's to come because of global warming coupled with the rise of right-wing populism. It's just gonna keep happening and happening, even if we are all dead.
We reaped what we sow, all in the name of protecting the free markets at all costs.
