How do i find what version of windows my computer is using?

Control Panel or Settings / System/ About. 

Hold down the Windows key and press R. This should bring up the Run dialog box. Type in "winver" (without quotation marks) and click OK.

Previous operating systems usually loaded up with their version, and if you're using anything after the big Windows 8 change, you'll have tiles as a start menu, either full screen upon opening, or a 3rd of it for later versions.
