How long does it take to fully charge an electric car?

    It depends on how depleted the battery load is. Most people charge it overnight but how many hours depends on how much use before it is put back on charge. My understanding is that the battery never drops below a 70% load to provide enough power to move the car, even when the battery dies five to seven years down the road, you only get 30% of the life of the battery for your money.

    Depends on whether you have a 110,220 or 440 charging system.

    Dittos to Anon that there is great disparity in charging systems.  Some cars can be connected to regular house wiring  (110-120 volt AC in the USA) - but charging takes a long time  (at least overnight if battery is well depleted).  Higher capacity chargers are available that reduce the charging time to a few hours - but will require new wiring in our garages  (just as we need 220 volt lines for our clothes dryers and stoves).

    Depends on the car and charger.  Different battery sizes, different charging rates.  It can take well over a day to a couple of hours.
