WTF? People in nursing homes are always free to leave.

Release them to WHERE?   If a family member is able and willing to take them in, they can be released.

People often end up in nursing homes because they are unable to care for themselves, and there are no family members who are willing or able to take them.

And not all inmates are being released either.   That is being determined on a case to case basis..  Inmates who are at high risk, or due to be released soon will be CONSIDERED.

The government does not have custody of nursing home residents. It does have custody of prison and jail inmates.

Because most convicts are able bodied, and most people in nursing homes are not. I'm sure that if someone wants to leave the nursing home and has a place to go, they wouldn't stand in the way of them leaving. You can try to sue them, but you won't win.

If a person is in a nursing home they probably don't have the capabilities of leaving.  Hint:  It's a nursing home, not a retirement facility.

"Release" from a nursing home? It's not a prison, they can leave any time.

Nursing homes house the most vulnerable segment of the population to this virus. Why would the government release them so they can all die?
