You don't say who 'we' are. Don't forget that this is an international site, with contributors from all around the world.

All I can tell from your post is that you're not in either China or India.

I think the answer is ignorance. America doesn't follow the precautionary principle. I suggest you read about it .

Countries that have successfully limited their number of Covid 19 deaths have done it by enforcing isolation, testing and contact tracing.  In the United States, which I assume you are talking about, although you don't say, there has been a lot of resistance to complying with lock down measures.  The US has very good health care if you can afford it but many people have limited access and those are the ones who are living in circumstances where they are most likely to get infected.

We don't have the best health care in the world. Not even close.

How can you have the best health care system in the world if it is not freely available to all citizens? If people have to worry about the cost before seeking treatment you have a poor health care system.

I don't know for sure whether any of that is true.

I don't know if the US has the best health care in the world. (I'm guessing you meant the US.)

I don't know how many COVID-19 cases and deaths China has had, because they might not be counting and reporting them in the same way as the US.

I don't know how many COVID-19 cases and deaths India has had, because they might not be counting and reporting them in the same way as the US.

For that matter, I don't know how many cases the US has had, because I know for a fact they are only counting the cases that have tested positive, even though other people with COVID like symptoms may have had it and couldn't get tested.

Instead of thinking of this as some kind of competition between countries. I would really like for all the scientists in the world to cooperate and share information, so that when someone discovers a solution to this problem, it will reach all over the world in the shortest amount of time possible.

Who is "we"?  To which country are you referring?

China, India and many other countries don't have the ability to document everyone who has the virus so many times fewer than the actual number are reported.

Define who "we" are!  The health care system in the USA is the most expensive in the world, but with outcomes worse than many parts of the third world!
