Savings of U.S citizns?

I'm a Japanese.

I'm worried about the future after retirement though im still before 40.

I know U.S people often spend more money than monthly income.

You can't see any TV commercial of solution service of payment issue in Japan.

How much pension can U.S citizens get after you retired? In Japan average is round 1,200USD/person monthly after the age of 65y.o.

How U.S citizen survive without saving money?

Direct benefit pensions are no longer common in the US, because that leaves the investment risk with an employer. Direct contribution plans, where the employee contributes his own funds and the employer matches, and where the employee chooses among various investment options and thus retains the investment risk, are more common. The maximum 401-k employee contribution limit is $19,500 in 2020, plus another $6,500 age 50 and over.
