Cooking: What is main difference in taste of food between baking and broiling?

    Baking is usualy done at a lower temperature, like 350. Broiling is usually done at a higher temperature, like 500. Broiling gives more of a crust that does have a taste, baking (or roasting) just cooks the outside; it may brown but doesn't give the same texture.

    And which woudl You rather have? A baked steak or a broiled steak?

    Not really much difference in taste, but the texture is going to be different. Baking is slower and tends to dry out your food; broiling is quicker and tends to leave your food juicier.
