His chances of getting covid-19 last night, if he really was at a party was higher than at home alone watching tv.
If he was in Alturas, California... and he invited every member of his town to the party, the individuals at the party hugged and kissed, and drank beer from each other's glasses = he would have about the same probably of acquiring covid-19 at this party, than if he was at home watching TV.

His chances are that much higher of catching it. More importantly, if ANY others in attendance has it, it potentially could infect anyone there. They could then pass it on to anyone else they come in contact with. That is the reason for social distancing.
