In thermodynamics, the specific volume of a substance is the ratio of the substance's volume to its mass. It is the reciprocal of density and an intrinsic property of matter as well.
to get density, it is one divided by specific volume
example is 2.008 m³/kg
density is 1 / 2.008 m³/kg = 0.4980 kg/m³

Density = mass ÷ volume
Example: 1,000kg/m^3 for water
Specific Volume = volume ÷ mass
Example: 1m^3/1,000kg
The quantities are reciprocal identities.
Specific Volume is used in gases where
Volume is influenced by temperature and
pressure.

Just look at the units. If you have m^3/kg and you want kg/m^3, you just take the reciprocal.
Density = 1 / specific volume
