It's irrational, just like survivor's guilt is. I used to suffer from both. Maybe they feel they have something to prove. Or they genuinely feel bad for people who are worse off than they are.

I don’t have white guilt. I simply have disdain for White supremacists and closet racists. And I comprehend white privilege, like 90% of law makers being white. Learn the difference.
