Atheists: Do Christians really not understand why folks on the autism spectrum would be slightly less likely to be theists?

Do Christians really know so little about Psychology and Theology, or are they just hating on people with ASD's?

I hope you don't mind an answer from a Christian. I CAN understand why that might be the case--though I'm also not surprised to see a counter-example cited in one of the other responses.

I distrust any attempt to over-generalize groups of people selected on any basis, including religious beliefs or brain types. But if there is any correlation, it might have to do with how particular types of theism are commonly presented for consideration.

That is, a whole lot of my fellow Christians tend to promote versions of Christianity which are nearly unendurable twaddle, particularly those who describe God (and themselves) as motivated by love, but describe God's actions as hateful and preach imitation of that hate. Being less motivated to join a group for the sake of being in a group might be an effective (and, from my point of view, providential) defense against such notions.

Do you "really know so little about" psychology and theology?  My cousin has one high-functioning autistic son and the other on the autism spectrum, both devout Greek Orthodox Christians.

I've seen some people claiming the Christian label go pretty low in their treatment of people who lack belief but I don't honestly remember seeing people hate on those on the autistic spectrum.

I do remember our Orange in Chief mocking a reporter with a congenital joint condition and then claiming it didn't happen...and getting elected anyway.   That right there should have been pretty telling that Party Loyal people just don't care about anything else.

I think it is just trolls who see being anything other than neurotypical in a very negative way, and so suggest an association with atheism.

I swear they just hate on people with disabilities.
