Can you have a drink on these anti depressants? ?

Topiramate isn't an antidepressant by the way but it is being used in the treatment of alcohol addiction as it stops the release of dopamine when drinking so you don't feel as much pleasure. Anyway, both topiramate and venlafaxine combined with alcohol can cause excessive sleep, confusion, difficulty with memory and difficulty speaking but it's not going to kill you. I do know that some people have nasty withdrawal symptoms if they skip even one dose of venlafaxine so bear that in mind. I almost died drinking on trazadone and it is described as an exceptionally dangerous or even fatal combination. It's pretty easy to skip a dose though but as it's a sedating medication you will experience some degree of insomnia as a result.
