You definitely need to talk to an attorney and don't waste your time with YA responses.

What does the VA GI bill have to do with insurance?  You indicate that you have insurance.  What about the other driver?  Your insurance company should be handling this.

Fault is immaterial UNTIL the insurance companies decide on fault.  Did the insurance companies settle on fault?

Your attorney hasn't given you any advice or guidance?  The "other side" will undoubtedly argue that the lack of medical coverage was because no one on "your side" notified the VA.  It is not the fault of the other driver that your insurance coverage was not used.  Maybe your attorney is good on his/her feet and can override this objection when it comes to who will pay the bills.

I agree with no more gym, no more guitar.  You cannot be reimbursed for FUTURE damages - and that includes your career plans for the future.  Can't get a cyber security job?  Until you are qualified and denied that is not a legal claim.

In MY State damages are typically 2-1/2 to 3 times the amount of medical bills.  In the case of PERMANENT damages I've seen the demand be 10 times the medical bills.  How much did your attorney ask for in the lawsuit?  The award will NOT be higher than the demand AND has your insurance addressed the other party's insurance cap?  For example, if the other driver carries a maximum of, say $100,000, your award will not be over that amount.  I have seen ONE OCCASION when an insurance company paid out a policy and the driver was held liable over and above that amount.

Your attorney hasn't explained this to you?
