Do they want to pay people 2 cents A DAY or have all jobs be unpaid internships? How much is too much?

If many people in the US were paid based on their skills, motivation and work ethic, they would owe their employer.
You could be part of the solution. Start a company, risk your own capital, pay your workers a "living wage" .

You have a $10 bill.
Do you say "Never mind. Keep the change"?
The point of any business is to generate a profit, and labor - just like a soda - is a commodity. A business will not pay more for labor unless it has to, or it's in the interest of the business to pay above a market rate. That cuts into profit, which is the lifeblood of a business.

Why do workers want a billion dollars an hour?
That's how capitalism works. Everyone wants as much as they can get so in the end it ends up somewhere in the middle at a fair value.
