Fuses and Circuit Breakers are both serve the same purpose which is to protect electrical circuits by preventing overloads that can cause fires. Fuses can be quicker for interrupting the flow of power, but when they melt they must be replaced; circuit breakers on the other hand just need to be reset.

a fuse fails when the contact strip melts from overheating. It cannot be reused; the damage is permanent. A breaker flips a switch on overheating and can be reset; there is no damage to the unit.
