If you are 17 in college, do you have to get emancipated to live alone?

I’m currently 16 and working a full time job, and I’m graduating a year early. When I graduate, I’ll be 17. My parents are letting me move away to a dorm in college if I move out of state, but I may stay in state. If I do go to an in state college, will I need to be emancipation to rent an apartment? I know I’ll have the money to support myself by that time, but I’m not trying to go through a bunch of court stuff. I won’t be in high school, so i figured it may be legal, but I am not sure. (I am a Maryland resident)

Yes, you are still a minor.

Plan to stay in a dorm your first year unless you commute from home.   You wont get an apartment under 18.   And emancipation is next to impossible..  You basically have to already be on your own and supporting yourself when you file.
