Where do some people get this notion the government can subsidized or give $600 weekly unemployment boost indefinitely ?

Between continue paying all the politicians, military, social security, disability, retirement, Medicare, medical, EBT, section 8 , WIC, free government phones, welfare, etc.   Their is not an endless supply of money.  Then I hear oh the government in Canada, Australia, England all taking care of their citizens.  Which might be true but 45 million compared to 300 million is a huge difference.

Update:

If 50% of the country is out of work because of covid let's use some common sense.

dude if we went paper less those in charge of the money could litterally just lie about how much we had because that is how currecy has always worked.

inflation happens because we don't stop people from taking advantage of the people being helped by raiseing the prices.

thing are not valuable at all we make value.

a 1$ has always been equal to monopoly money we just say it is worth more because of gold and we say gold is worth something but it isn't

so yes if we as a speices wanted to make the checks go on forever we could as we could choose to say.

the price of an object must be equal to the cost of its parts and your time which can not exsead the cost of the items parts and the part are worth x

and make a list of values for each thing that is not change able

then when those who need help recive it areholes won't be able to take advantage of them by raiseing the price

problem is we don't want a functioning economy that works for us we want a system in which those who can't are picked off because we by our nature don't like helping others

Because unemployment actually does what conservatives falsely claim that tax cuts for the rich do: it stimulates the economy by more than it costs and enough for the government to bring in more tax revenue.

People tend to not only not take into consideration the massive US population (there are more people in California alone than in all of Canada). But also things like education. The US is near the bottom amongst developed nations when it comes to that (Canada is the most educated country). Some also don't consider how high the taxes are in the places with more social programs. But that said, the US spends so much more on its military than any other place that a lot will look to "redistribute" some of that money into domestic needs.

Right now there is almost 50 percent of the population who receives some kind of social benefit, and that is growing.  The tax base isn't big enough to pay for it so Washington has to borrow the money and pay the interest on it. Or raise taxes, or both.

Any more pandemics or natural disasters in the world that need funds to recover from and the whole system can collapse due to people being out of work and not able to pay taxes and no one else to borrow money from because they need to borrow money, too.

I know, I know. I’ve heard it all before. The richest country in the world can’t afford a pot to piss in. *yawn*
