How do you plan to celebrate Halloween this year?

I usually dress in costume, assemble treats in treat bags that I give out to neighborhood children in Queens, NY, then travel to the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade or to a party open to the public.  Often my friend Alina is with me.  Last year, 2019, I won a prize for my Joan of Arc costume at Theater for the New City's Costume Ball in East Village, NYC.

Halloween 2020 may be different if COVID-19 has its way.  Kids may not be allowed to trick-or-treat.  Passing candy to strange kids may be forbidden for fear of spreading the virus.  Crowd-attracting activities. like parades and public parties, may be cancelled.

If Halloween 2020 is changed and I must stay indoors, I will dress in costume and attend virtual events or watch TV programs.  For candy, at least, I will mail some candy to younger relatives or friends.  I hope someone will organize a charity where we can send Halloween goodies to kids, especially poor kids, like Christmas charities.  Knowing me, I might even create a virtual event--or at least a YouTube playlist, like I did for Juneteenth 2020.

It may be especially meaningful to reflect on death, or even to laugh at death, in the face of COVID-19.   I expect COVID costumes and "essential worker" costumes, and, of course, Dr. Fauci costumes!

By myself, in my room, while wearing my Spyro onesie, and dancing to Halloween music.

    Great costume.

Perhaps drive-in theaters and classic horror films will eventually get back together.

I will probably watch Halloween movies by myself and eat snacks.

I live on Los Angeles. It is a crime to celebrate Halloween this year. Next it will be a crime to have a Christmas Tree the way things are going.

I'll probably hope I get invited to some Halloween party and maybe drive myself or a few friends there. If not, I'll probably drive around to a friend's house and maybe pick them up and go to a haunted house or somewhere else. If no one wants to hang out (which is probable since my supply of friends is limited), I'll probably drive around by myself or work or sleep and watch Netflix and work on college applications or homework.

I honestly haven't celebrated it in 7 years because when I outgrew trick or treating, I decided Halloween wasn't worth it. However, I definitely wouldn't celebrate this year because nothing could top the terrifying realities happening this year!

Yes. I’m planning to stay home and pass out about 40 treats bags.
