Can employer  still give a negative reference even if your still working for the company ?

    If anyone gives a reference as long as they tell the truth it can be positive or negative still working for them or not...so if the employee takes of sick days all the time, refuses to do tasks asked or is late for work on a regular basis those are facts that can be proved and would be a negative reference.

    The rules don't change just because you are still employed. The employee can say the same thing either way.

    Most employers just confirm employment like start and end date. They don't give references to avoid potential lawsuits
