In Greek mythology and Roman mythology, Hector (/ ˈhɛktər /; Ἕκτωρ, Hektōr, pronounced [héktɔːr]) was a Trojan prince and the greatest fighter for Troy in the Trojan War. He acted as leader of the Trojans and their allies in the defence of Troy, "killing 31,000 Greek fighters." He was ultimately killed by Achilles.

There are 100 hectares in one square kilometre. An acre is about 0.405 hectare and one hectare contains about 2.47 acres. In 1795, when the metric system was introduced, the are was defined as 100 square metres and the hectare ("hecto-" + "are") was thus 100 ares or 1 ⁄ 100 km 2 (10,000 square metres).

"Hectare" is a female (as in fertile land) whereas Hector is just a selfish man-child beast that despoils the land.
