If she can not attend  school because of a low immune system Then how can she be around to cheer for the school team?  For her health I don’t see how she could try out or be on the cheer squad.

When I homeschooled my daughter she had a legal right to be in orchestra. I had to get her to school during orchestra class and concerts.

Not sure how it would work for cheer team

Yes.  Your taxes are paying for the cheerleading.  Contact your local education authority to notify them you intend to place your daughter on the team,  and they will notify the school.  You can purchase modest cheerleading apparel online.

If she has a low immune system... what's the difference if he goes to school or goes to cheerleading? Either way, she'll still be around approximately 12 kids for several days per week.

Yes, she can do cheerleading (a well as any sport/extracurricular) even if she's homeschooled. Go to (or call) your local high school and ask the administration office about it. They should be able to help you.

She should start an online cheering squad on Zoom or YouTube.

It might go viral with all the others who wish the same thing.

the best part is that everyone can participate, not just a chosen few who are considered to be the best.

I bet a few teachers would like to jump in and help, or even graduates who have participated and enjoyed cheering in their teens.

    Go for it..

Source(s): She could call it "B&B Cheering" (backyard and bedroom cheering) for the pandemic era. I hope to see the synced routine on 'Good Morning America" And I want to see you there helping. They are going to interview you because you are going to be the guy who started the whole thing.. I'm giving the idea to you. The credit is all yours. All you have to do now, is the work. You can do it.

You would have to ask the school itself, or maybe the state education authorities.

Note spelling 'our' for things related to yourselves. 'Are' is used as in 'We are American'.

If you are asking if homeschooled kids can participate in local school sports (incl cheerleading), that depends on your state's homeschool laws. Some states prohibit while others allow homeschoolers to participate in school sports.

If you are "schooling at home" due to Covid, that is still public schooling -- where the public school is providing the materials and tracking grades. In that case, such a student is considered a student of that public school. Whatever sports they are permitting would be open to their students.

What is confusing in your question is that your child "cannot physically go to school." How or why they cannot, it would seem anyway, would also prevent them from being able to participate in something like cheerleading.

If your daughter is immune deficient, is it even possible for her to pass the physical necessary for full inclusion in a school sport that involves close interaction with other active athletes? Cheerleading is a school sport, and all health rules and regulations must be observed, including signed approval by her doctor.  If she wants to work out at home in order to feel better about her physical health, hire a gymnastics trainer or a dance teacher to come to your home.

Sure,  it just takes a little agreement.

    BUT, WHY?

Social Separation (Homeschooling) makes no sense if the child is being included in the Schools Group Activities.

    Some legislation is being proposed:

Georgia Senate Bill 163  ( bill failed )
