Do you think the NFL season will happen this year?
Or is it’s cancelation just inevitable?

I hope so, and I also hope we get our hands on a few good vaccines, so every team can start welcoming back some more fans to their games.

I am still hopeing for a season but will not be surprised if it does get canceled.I can not believe the NFL will be able to control the players regardless of the money at risk.

It will, but the stadiums will be empty.

I believe it will happen and nothing short of of a catastrophic event will stop it.
The NFL has probably worked the hardest and been the most successful sport at building a brand identity..... but that carefully-crafted brand can go from a multi-billion dollar gravy train to debt ridden train wreck very quickly if it ceases to produce product (which in this case is the games themselves).
And here's the "dirty little secret:" getting fans in the seats is probably not even among their top 10 priorities right now....
Putting any product on TV guarantees their billion-dollar TV deal and probably close to another billion in advertising and endorsements. Having any games in empty stadiums will still allow gamblers......errr... I mean "fantasy sports enthusiasts"... to place their bets and run their "just for fun" leagues... Not only does the league get it's cut from the on-shore betting sites, but many owners hold interest in gambling sites that are legal overseas.
From the players' perspective... for all the talk of "personal safety" you have a bunch of guys brought up since high school with "millionaire tastes" whose entire net worth is based on games being played. Pandemics tend to be one of those things that are written into contracts that allow ownership to void all deals if they can claim losses...so if (and when) "push comes to shove" most players will have to chose between "principle" and finding a "real" job.
Bottom line, too many people have too much money at stake for the NFL not to play games this year. Remember the tagline from Kaepernick's Nike commercial "Believe in Something, Even if you Lose Everything?"
Well... now is the time we see just how many folks are REALLY willing to lose "everything" for their beliefs...

Yes, it will definitely happen - there is waaaaaaaay too much money tied up to just cancel it.
The real issue is whether fans will be allowed into the stadiums, or will it be just be TV only. I think we will be watching games played in empty stadiums, which will feel very weird.

I think we will get a partial season. I think they'll start out as planned, but media pressure to close down will keep mounting with every positive test, and eventually the NFL will give in. Then, in late October into early November, I think one of the several vaccines in stage 3 FDA testing will get approved and distributions will start. This will embolden the NFL to sack up and resume the season.
