I CHOKED ON A TWIZZLER LAST NIGHT, COULD IT BE STUCK IN MY CHEST?
Last night around 9:00pm, I inhaled a twizzler bite and it went straight into my air pipe. I couldn't breathe at all, It was the first time in my life I have actually choked and thought I wasn't going to make it. I couldn't get enough air to force it out so I ended up just forcing it down and chasing it with water just so I can get some air. After a few minutes of swallowing water, I got it past my throat. It felt like something was than stuck in my chest so I ended up just keep vomiting over and over again. Lost all my food from puking and after about an hour, it felt half better but still some pressure was in there.
I could still swallow but it was just slower with a lot of acid reflux and burping, stomaching gurgling, gas etc. I ended up going to the ER and they though I developed GERD from it. They gave me some meds to help with the reflux. When I swallow it feels like any liquid or saliva is going around something. But not sure if that could just be the reflex.
Is there a chance the candy could be lodged in my esophagus or could it really just be GERD from what happened? Will it dissolve?
Photo of candy below for comparison of size. if photo doesnt show...its about as tall as a dice height wise and a couple CM thickness.
lengnth and height of dice, thickness few centimeters.
