Is It Normal To Fall In Love With A Cartoon Character?
Ever since the new Disney cartoon called "The Owl House" started. There's this female character I've fallen in love with. The character is Eda, the most powerful witch on The Boiling Isles. My heart beats faster when she's around, she's the most beautiful lady to ever grace the world, I can't help how I feel about her. I've become a love struck fool. I've fallen in love with her but I'm also terrified of her at the same time. Is that normal? I can't help how I feel about the most beautiful lady I've ever seen. I do feel like my sense of love is bigger than my sense of fear. I feel like I got an idea on how to win her heart but it's risky. That would be to heal her of her curse for good so she wouldn't have to worry about it no more and so she wouldn't have to take an elixir in order to keep it at bay. I feel like if I do that, I'd know I'd probably die in the attempt but I'd do it for her, I'd do it for Eda. I'd take a bullet for her. I really can't help how I feel about her. I know, I sound like a love struck fool and maybe I am a love struck fool and so what. My heart belongs to her forever. Please, don't immature in your answers. Tell me if this is normal.

Cartoon characters are designed to make people hate them or fall in love with them. That's what brings people to the movie theaters and sells popcorn. But yes - an obsession like the one you describe here is obviously abnormal, unless you're talking about a character like the beautiful, enigmatic Dorothy in the anime series "Big O."

It happens more often than you might expect. But in all reality, it's infatuation, not actually being in love. To be in love there has to be some form of interaction, a two-way bond that forms on an emotional level. That infatuation is quite common and a normal reaction to someone we view as attractive, even if they are fictional. Some cartoon characters are drawn in a way that emphasizes their cuteness, beauty, handsomeness, and general attractiveness. Sometimes that emphasis goes to exaggerated proportions, but if it's kept within reason the character can be very attractive. When combined with a wonderful personality as portrayed through facial expression and (in the case of animation) behavior and dialog, that makes them all the more attractive. And when they have a voice actor with an amazing voice, that can make them incredibly attractive. And it's not just human cartoon characters; it can also easily be anthropomorphic animal characters as well (see picture).
You're absolutely right, you can't help how you feel about the character you're attracted to. And there's really nothing wrong with feeling that way about a character. It's no different than being attracted to a real life person who you could never possibly meet, let alone get into a relationship with. You just have to keep your mind firmly grounded in reality and accept that as such a character doesn't exist, a real relationship will never exist outside of your dreams and fantasies, and those fantasies cannot be a substitute for a real relationship with someone who actually exists.
When it comes to love and attraction, there is very little in the way of normal or abnormal. There's what's common and uncommon. So yes, it is common for someone to feel attracted to a cartoon character. It may not be the majority of people, but it does happen often enough.
Here's a character who I find incredibly cute, beautiful, and attractive. The picture is dark because it's a dusk/twilight scene.
