Why do some people get unreasonably emotional when debating paranormal topics?

Do you mean by unreasonably emotional, using ethnic slurs, foul language, misogynic insults, and generally thuggish behavior? There could be a few reasons, faulty upbringing, mental problems, or just being a jerk. 

Maybe it's because the existence of ghost would disprove some of their deep rooted beliefs or religions.

Some topics are entirely emotional and sensational. I see people becoming unreasonably emotional in many categories however. I recall some quite heated exchanges in Painting, Celebrities, Veganism, Alternative Medicine, News & Events, Politics, Paranormal Phenomena, Religion & Spirituality, Other Groups & Cultures, Martial Arts, Hunting, etc.! Japanese and Chinese people have much more control over their emotions that any other groups. Anyone who becomes unreasonably emotional here has the mind of a baby. English Gaijin comes readily to mind when I think of being unreasonably emotional. Venus 1485 A.D. is very intelligent. She is a millionaire who owns cars by Lamborghini, Ferrari and Maserati. She has helped a Japanese girl I know and a Chinese girl plus Sandra K who lives near a wealthy Japanese girl. 

They are ruled by emotions, just like babies. Their beliefs are emotional, not reasonable and objective. People allow emotions to control them in religion, politics and paranormal. Science and Logic quite different from Religion, Politics and Paranormal-Supernatural! I born Fukushima, Japan, and my countrymen think adults should strictly control emotions. Some of us laugh at Gaijin who cannot control their emotions. English Gaijin, Hunter, etc. intensely hate anyone who not share their ignorant beliefs. 

Some people are emotionally invested in believing in the paranormal.  Some believe in ghosts because they lost a loved one, and want to believe they will see them again.  There was a huge spike in the number of seances after the Civil War, because so many people had died. 

It is a FEAR that they might be MISTAKEN----on either side of the argument. Emotional Skeptics, have a deep seated FEAR of paranormal entities or ability and  EMOTIONAL "skepticism" is a form of denial---Face it, if there was truly no FEAR they could LAUGH it off and not be upset.   An Emotional BELIEVER disparately wants paranormal stuff to be true. Usually out of a fear of death (Ghosts are reassuring)------When either of these persons encounters evidence or criticism they have problems denying, they get threatened---and angry.

A stable Believer, is confident in his beliefs, and is usually a witness (even IF he might be mistaken about what he saw)  A stable Skeptic, also has confidence in what he knows too--even if he is wrong, and looks down on Believers.

As for me, I am primarily a Skeptic, but believe many believers HAVE witnessed SOMETHING, but don't know what it really is.--either out of their own ignorance, or they have encountered the rare NATURAL phenomena that hasn't made it to our Science books yet (They only CALL it "ghosts", etc.).-----That's why Paranormal studies are so interesting to me.  There may be a chance for a true Scientific discovery (NATURAL) of course.

There is no reason other than the reasons I have mentioned in the past. When you put in writing something that has no other purpose than to aggravate genuine users, it becomes an empty post. Just take a closer look at what you have written here. Not one mention of paranormal. It has no content of its own and therefore it only attracts comments like my own and similar comments and all more or less trying to educate you. Then you have the usual yadda yadda lecture about insults and name-calling from NG. Unfortunately, you see he is doing exactly what he is preaching against and in the same comment? Don't worry, he will probably delete it now it has been brought to his attention. So there you go in a nutshell. Simply stop trying to get on people's nerves and they will be far more willing to be nicer to you in the future unless you die that is. As a matter of interest, you have written not one paranormal topic on this site. All of your posts have been your ripping into other people who dare to mention paranormal. It is really very simple. You do not debate paranormal. Your posts are simply mockery and people act accordingly. Actually try joining in instead of the constant pretence that you have no belief. (I was half watching aliens on youtube) Your own comment. Why not "try" to debate a paranormal topic for a change and we may see if you are right.

EDIT! Thank you for your diagnosis NG. But to be honest, calling yourself DR. NG does not entitle you to diagnose anyone. Your actions make me wonder what is wrong with your own mental state and upbringing. Tomorrow, why not pretend you are a diver and jump in the lake little guy? Also, NG as for ethnic slurs, you have a tendency to call me English this and English that and also see others doing the same, yet you keep your racist flag in your little pocket, don't you NG? It seems racism is ok when directed at me? To think "you" of all people are handing out the diagnosis of others mental state? Maybe a hot cocoa and an early night may help, as you are probably suffering from stress. Now that IS a diagnosis doctor. I also have no hatred of women. It is their actions on here I don't like. Paedo male or female, there is no difference. You really want to give the doctor thing up NG. Don't forget, I like women just as much as you like men. I wouldn't let "you" diagnose a carrot. As for my language, if you decide to change the E to a U to make feck a swear word, I would put that down to your own dirty mind. so stop doing it and saying oh! look at his language. Its all in your head doctor

English Gai should've been banned long ago. He's racist, misogynist, etc. My god friend Venus 1485AD had her account ended for supposedly lack of activity, but she used YA as much as lots of people. English Gai deserves to be banned a whole lot more that lots of people. 

NG, notice how her posts are full of hatred and contain nothing of a paranormal nature? Venus is the other weirdo and Sandra had her hand in the pocket of Venus, so no wonder she is annoyed. However, if she doesn't use her account, that isn't our fault. She was most probably avoiding Sandra. Sandra has a go at me every time she comes here with her English this and English that racism and does it in the same post that she calls me a racist? Don't you think it unfair NG? Fecking hypocrite.

Look NG, The slanty-eyed Jap is using ethnic slurs again, aren't you going to say something? 

It would also be the right thing to do to tell Sol to stop using her many accounts to give you lots of TU's for silly answers like yours. Did you honestly think people wouldn't get suspicious?

Passionate interests are always an emotional thing, when debating things that can't be proved.

I'm sure you can answer that question better than I. But you don't have to. The emotional states of people who contribute to these discussions are irrelevant to the scientific questions we discuss. EDIT - I didn't realize that my answer would cause such emotional reactions. Sorry.
